Moving forward

Hello everyone,

Policy Development Steps has been posted in the documents section of the policy group. Please utilize this as a project outline for our group.

As we move forward, I think it would be prudent to weigh in or at least become familiar with the discussions and progress of the other groups (Measurement, Outcomes and Implementation). Engagement in these discussions ensures relevancy and facilitates  collective input. Please remember that a primary objective is to synthesize the efforts of each of these groups and present them as a comprehensive and cohesive action plan.

Because this is an online project, I will need feedback from all policy members in the form of a blog posting or email to know who is involved and where we are as a group. These posts and/or emails can be thoughts, op-eds, or questions. Keep in mind that we have an online discussion on Tuesday, August 11th at 7pm EST. Again, for those unable to participate at this scheduled time, please comment on the notes that will be posted from the discussion and weigh in with your own perspective.

Here is a policy link (NCLB) relating to improving teacher quality from the department of education website: http://www.ed.gov/teachers/nclbguide/improve-quality.html. You may also be interested in the last link under Highly Qualified Teachers: Guidance on Teacher Quality and More - http://www.ed.gov/policy/elsec/guid/edpicks.jhtml?src=ln. In your readings, note the use and effectiveness of definitions and generalizations.

I'm here and intend to be active. I won't be on the live discussion Tuesday; I already promised my son I'd take him to the heavy-metal concert, so at the time you get to sit in air-conditioned comfort and chat, I'll be in the middle of about eight hours of sweating in a Florida summer, waiting for Marilyn Manson. I love my son. I have to, sometimes ...
