What is an "Opportunity Economy?"

To be honest, I had never heard of the phrase before. Maybe more importantly I never knew it had to exist.

I took this question to the social media crowd and asked what an Opportunity Economy meant to them. Most people came back asking for more clarification and one of my friends told me – “I’ve never even heard of Opportunity Economy.”

Taken aback with the lack of answers, I could only come to the conclusion that:

That’s what I thought.

I mean, you don’t use words for things that don’t exist, right? At least I truly believed that everyone had the ability within themselves to create their own opportunities. Only recently have I sadly discovered this isn’t the reality. People who are doing everything within their power to live the American dream are running into unmovable obstacles. They need an opportunity and the current economy is not making that happen.

So what can be done?

Well, I truly believe awareness if the first step. The more people are informed the sooner they can unite and act. The human spirit is at its best when things are at their worst and I truly believe together we can create Opportunity Economy for those who need it.
