Michael Signer
Michael Signer is Deputy Counselor to Governor Mark Warner in Richmond, Virginia. For the 2004 presidential campaign, Mike was the Democratic National Committee's voter assistance director in Virginia. He served on the staffs of Mark Warner's campaigns for U.S. Senate and Governor in Virginia, and later was a Legal Fellow for two years in the Office of the Governor. He worked in the Little Rock headquarters of the Wesley Clark for President Campaign before returning to Virginia to serve as the campaign's State Director. With Carrie Nixon, he recently co-founded and co-chaired the New Electoral Reform Alliance for Virginia (New ERA). He has also served as Legislative Aide to Delegate Creigh Deeds (D-Bath County).
Mike has published articles on financial, political, and cultural topics in venues including The Washington Post, USA Today, the San Francisco Examiner, and the Oakland Tribune. He is the author of the "Law" Section in The New York Times Guide to Essential Knowledge. He is a Contributor to democracyArsenal.org, recently co-launched by the Center for American Progress and the Century Foundation, and is a Member of the Truman National Security Project. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California at Berkeley, where he was a National Science Foundation Research Fellow, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia, School of Law. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton. He lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.
