Next Steps...

Hello Team,

We have some fantastic Recommendations out there now.  Great Work!

I want to get some clarification on some things in our team call on Friday and will update you afterwards on Friday or saturday. In the meantime, please try to do the following:

1.  Take a look at your Recommendations and the things that Teddy Broussard answered about implementation and see if there is anything you want to add/change or ask more questions about. Post questions that you have to him in  his discussion thread.

2.  Also compare what you wrote to the HSG template and see if there are other sections you can complete (or at least attempt)..ask for help if you need it.  I am going to get more clarification on "implementation steps" on the team lead call if you want to hold off on that.  Don't forget that each recommendation needs a little background about the current problem.

3.  Try to read all, but at least one of our Implementation RECS thoroughly and provide feedback to the person who wrote it.  I got feedback from Teddy Broussard about the "weighting measures problem" on the phone so focus on the others if you don't have time for all of them.

4.  Take a look at the barriers we have left and see if you'd like to take on of them on (just think about them, you don't need to do anything before Friday

4. Teachers are not enhancing their professional growth and making positive changes to their teaching as a result of evaluations.

10. With the implementation of new and multiple measures, different interpretation of definitions of assessment tools... for instance...portfolios can mean something simple to one teacher/administrator or something laborious and complicated to another...

15. With the implementation of new and multiple measures, barriers related to training and consistency  present. A major barrier to any type of measure implemented may be adequate training for those doing the testing or teacher evaluations or interpreting data collected.  Also consistency in the training- and consistency in the implementing of the measures (ie If using portfolios what does that look like across the board?  If using an evaluation rubric is there consistency in the development and application?)

Writing RECS for these will be somewhat redundant with what others have written but because its a different problem there may be an element or two that is new in our REC.  After we spend a couple days really reading each others RECS, I'd like us to revisit these other barriers and potentially write some additional RECS even if its somewhat redundant...HSG and team leads will be reorganizing the ideas anyway, we just need to make sure we provide appropriate background and content.

5.  Read the Recs that measures has posted and see think about how they may correlate to Implementation.

6. DUE DATE:  Please try to do of much of these things as you can by Friday of theis week.

Keep me posted on what your status is and thanks again for all your great work!!

-Lisa
